Mandarin activities for the first week of lockdown (18th - 20th August 2021)

Dear children, here are some Mandarin activities and games that you can try at home in the first week of lockdown:

Year 0 to 2: Colour game & Number game

Year 3: Country names in Mandarin

Year 4: Stationery vocabulary games (see 'classroom objects') You can also finish off your dragon boat research project on Google Slides and share it with me. 

Year 5 & 6 : Review YCT level 1 & 2 vocabulary (there's a digital copy with/without answers on Seesaw) and practise your speech. You can record your speech and send the video to me. 

I will see you online next week.

Dragon Boat Festival Fun Activities!

The dragon boat festival was on 14 June this year. Here are some great resources if you would like to try some fun craft activities:

How to make an origami zongzi (zongzi is a type of traditional food in triangular shape with sticky rice inside)

The dragon boat races happen in many places in the world. It has become a sports event. Team members train very hard during the year. 


Zongzi




Zongzi is a special type of food that people make for the Dragon Boat Festival. There are sweet and savory ones. There are red bean filling the sweet ones. The savory ones contain rice, meat, egg yolk and green beans. They are delicious! Here is a red bean zongzi recipe if you are interested to make some!

Chinese New Year Fortune Tales & Celebrations

Welcome to Mandarin classes! In the first few weeks of Term 1, we learned about the Chinese New Year. Children had the opportunities to view different cultural items and we had some meaningful discussions. We also tried to make some beautiful paper cuttings.
